On behalf of my family, I extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone here, both in person and online, for joining us to celebrate my mother’s life. Special thanks go to Pastor Philip Heng, Lim Seng Hoo, Oi Fun and their families, as well as the incredible eulogists who offer a rich, multi-faceted portrayal of her life. We also acknowledge the supportive communities—SOMers, mothers' groups, Bethesda volunteers—and those who have contributed to this tribute.
We are deeply grateful to Rev. Tang, Dr. Fong, Rev. Tan, Rev. Koh, Miss Goh, Sis Mary, Bro Hong Siang, and countless others who have been pillars of support to Ben and me. A poignant memory is the verse from 1 Peter 5:8 and the Chinese calligraphy Grandma imparted to my son John, “Watch and Pray,” words handwritten by her father, Dr. Tow Kheng Kee.
Rather than a chronological account, I’ll share my mother’s essence through five cherished sayings, capturing her spirit:
1. **MOR NOR don’t**: This encapsulates her adventurous spirit and cautionary wisdom. Whether we were swimming at camps or gawking at the aftermath of accidents, she taught us the importance of responsibility and restraint.
2. **[MOR] SIAH CHO CHOK CHONG**: Mom valued excellence, urging us to aim not just for 100%, but 120%. Her insistence on academic and musical excellence was evident, from listening to JS Bach's *St. Matthew Passion* to dismissing anything less as "low class music."
3. **EH BODOH! SO KODOK! WHY YOU SING SENGEH?**: Mom’s discipline was both firm and loving. She demanded diligence and perfection, often quoting her father’s colorful admonitions to instill discipline and industry.
4. **EAT MISSION/CHIAK PA BUEH?**: Her humor shone through even in the toughest times. She managed to nurture us with meager resources, turning simple meals into moments of joy and ensuring we always had enough, even during lean times.
5. **CHAM SEE but BUCK UP!**: Despite life's hardships, Mom was a source of unwavering support and comfort. She believed in the importance of food and education, filling our lives with nutritious meals and stories that connected us to a wider world.
For JSMers, she harmonized Dad's melodies, her love for hymns evident despite her dislike for certain tunes. She embraced simplicity and resilience, creating beauty and order even in the face of life's imperfections.
Reflecting on her life, it’s clear that her faith and perseverance were unshakeable. Like the saints in Hebrews 11, she lived out her faith uniquely, embodying a tenacious belief in God’s promise, regardless of the circumstances.
Mom faced death early, losing her own mother young, but always looked toward glory. She endured pain and sacrifice, confident in her Redeemer. Her steadfast faith mocked the world and Satan, secure in the knowledge of her Creator and Judge.

### Eulogy: Mom's Journey in Five Chapters
Reading from Revelation 14:6-7 reminds us of the everlasting gospel and the eternal rest that follows.
1. **BATU: MUEH**
Mom’s formative years were spent in Batu, where she was the youngest of eight children. Losing her mother at 12, she attended both Chinese and English schools, always ranking among the top three. She became the church organist and clinic CFO, even crafting a cardboard keyboard during the Japanese Occupation. Her academic journey took her to Raffles Girls' School, St. Andrew's Pre-U, and TTC, where she was known as the most eligible spinster.
2. **PRINCETON NJ: MACHINE**
She graduated from Westminster Choir College in just 1.5 years, honing her skills under notable mentors. Despite her small stature, she made a significant impact, resisting the liberal currents at college while nurturing her musical talents.
3. **SINGAPORE: MOM**
Returning to Singapore, she became Life BPC's organist and married the first FEBC professor, Ng. She devoted herself to raising three children, actively supporting JSM through various roles and volunteering. Her organizational skills and musical expertise were evident in her contributions to the community.
4. **BIRMINGHAM AL: MIZENG**
In Alabama, she continued her mission work, hosting VBS and summer camps. Despite the challenges, she remained a beloved figure, baking treats and managing the household while supporting international missions.
5. **LENTOR RESIDENCE: MUI**
In her final years, Mom’s health declined, yet her spirit remained strong. She battled Alzheimer's but continued to inspire those around her. Even as she lost her musical abilities, her legacy of love, faith, and resilience endured.
From Batu to Lentor, she was Mueh, Machine, Mom, Mizeng, and Mui. To me, she will always be Ma. Until we meet again, lost in wonder, love, and praise. Miss you, Mom.
